Check Out Joshua Edwards’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Edwards

Hi Joshua, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Joshua Edwards I own Generational Home Improvement/GHI . I’m a 3rd generation general contractor from both sides of my family. Growing up with entrepreneurs made me who I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I won’t say it was smooth. It’s always a struggle in different ways. Growing up, my family always had high expectations for me. In the beginning I wanted nothing to do with taking over the family business tradition. As I got older and married I was more interested in being an entrepreneur. My wife supported me and it started slow but I focused on building relationships and networking. Slowly building a relationships with clients, contractors and designers. I worked off of word of mouth. Now as my business grows I have han to adjust to working with social media. It took money and time. But it has open up new opportunities for me and the company. I will say the most difficult part is finding people around my age that are in the trades or have any experience. Most people that I work with are getting ready to retire. As time goes on, there is going to be a shortage of contractors.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We do a lot of different trades. We specialize in painting and drywall repairs. We are known for a custom paint work. I am most proud of our client relationships. A lot of our clients give us a house key or garage code to the home and they will on vacation while we take care of the work that needs to be done. Our clients trust us in their home. We have had clients invite us out for their family gatherings or play dates with our and their kids.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is my family and kids. I work hard for my family and want to be a good father and husband. I want to teach my daughters a good family structure and what a good man acts like. I want them to know they can do anything they want and be the best person they can be.
