Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Moore
Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I picked up my first camera when I was about 14 years old, not realizing it would change my life in the best way possible. Not only because it’s always been a constant in my life, but because it allows me to hold the most beautiful space for so many people. I was excited about photography since it allowed me to document my surroundings and the experiences I was creating. It wasn’t until much later that I saw the actual beauty in every picture I managed to take. I began shooting portraits, then realized how much I loved photographing couples, which led to capturing their engagements, bridals, and finally their wedding day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I went into photography with a misunderstanding of how long it would take to get rolling. It’s challenging enough to learn how to operate a camera, adjust lighting, and edit; it’s quite another to turn those skills into a lucrative full-time business. For me, establishing a business has required a lot of experimentation to determine what worked and what didn’t. Working in this field has taught me a lot of important lessons, one of which is that not everyone will appreciate your work, and that’s okay! Making people happy does not need you to alter the way you do things. As a form of art, photography should be valued by your clients. Don’t strive to be someone you’re not because you think that will make you successful, or sell yourself short!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a lifestyle and wedding photographer based in West Michigan, and I specialize in wedding, elopement, engagement, and portrait photography.
What sets me apart from other photographers is my editing style and personality. I hope to provide a friendly environment for my clients and I’m here to guide them and make the process enjoyable because I know that being in front of a camera can be intimidating. I value the relationship between me and my clients so much and want them to feel comfortable before they step in front of my camera. Finding your style is something that creatives talk about for years, but I’ve never understood it. Instead of concentrating on what inspired my creativity, I wasted a lot of time emulating the styles of other photographers. I am rather pleased with where my art has brought me, even though it took me a while to figure it out. My style is all about the rich colors, the warm sun, blurry kisses, the romantic dancing, and I want to document genuine, emotive moments. Curated photos that are not only pretty, but really feel like you and your story.
What were you like growing up?
My childhood consisted of me running around barefoot and getting scrapes on my knees, only coming home to read a book and lose myself in its pages. I like to think that my interest in capturing movement, light, and lines stems from spending so much time outside throughout my childhood. I would sit outside and just watch the world around me shift and change. Since I can remember, creativity has centered my life; when I see and experience other people’s creativity, I am incredibly inspired and elated.
