Today we’d like to introduce you to Amaya Berreles
Hi Amaya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In my last two years of high school I attended my local career centers, Bay Arenac ISD’s Graphic Design program. I fell in love with designing graphics, logos, photography, and promotional materials. I decided to go into marketing management after high school through Delta & Northwood University’s 3&1 program. My first year of college, covid hit and everything got shut down. I started a marketing internship anyways as well as started posting goofy TikTok’s for fun. I ended up getting a full time marketing job managing the companies social media accounts, designing promotional materials, doing a lot of communications work, etc. It was during this time that I realized how much I loved managing the companies social media, and I noticed how many businesses in the area were doing amazing but nobody knew because they had little to no social media presence and no marketing. So I started an LLC, designed a logo for myself, and quit my job randomly. I had zero clients and no backup plan. This was very risky but also pushed me to go full in on my business. Now, a little over two years later I have rebranded the business to ‘Power Move Media’, have clients throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region – some managing their social media accounts, and some doing full marketing for. We are still at the beginning stages of our company and have a long way to go, learning new things everyday. I thank our success so far to the community who supports us.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been challenges throughout our entire journey. Learning the ins and outs of being a small business is a obstacle on its own – taxes, legalities, etc. A big challenge for me is separating my work and personal time, I really enjoy what I do, so it can overflow into my personal life a lot. I also work with various different industries, so learning a new industry – sometimes VERY niche, can be challenging, but we’re always up for it!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My entire family has always cheered me on, no matter how crazy the idea I have is. I’ve never felt held back with the people I surround myself with. I am extremely motivated by small business owners in our community. I always say that my clients inspire me, because I see how passionate they are about their company and it makes me feel the same passion for mine. I want to help these business succeed, and I know I can help them through marketing.
