Hi Katie, we’re so excited to have you on the platform. Before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
About six years ago, a photographer friend approached me and asked me if I could help her with her business. She didn’t want to do any part of the business other than take photos of people – her passion and asked if I could help with the administrative side of things.

I’m a type A, enneagram 3, so I jumped at the chance, and Masterfully Managed came to life. Since then, we’ve been helping small business owners get hours back in their lives by taking care of their to-do lists and running their day-to-day operations.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Masterfully Managed started out as just me (Katie) and has grown significantly. Armed with a Bachelor’s in Advertising/Public Relations, an MBA with a specialization in Marketing, and a Master’s in Education, I am a detail-oriented, self-motivated, results-driven leader, but I still hit my limit about four years in.

Our family experienced a huge medical event that ultimately completely changed the structure of the business. It wasn’t feasible or sustainable for me to be involved in every single aspect. Now, with a team of 10 strong, we are able to provide a variety of beneficial services to our clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of Masterfully Managed. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand?
Most of our clients started their professions (photographer, wedding planner, physical therapist) because they were leaning into their passions and gifts. They did not start their businesses to respond to endless emails, post on social media, send contracts and invoices, schedule meetings, and wear the many other hats that small business owners are asked to wear.

Masterfully Managed is a boutique company of women who work with industry-leading professionals. We understand and enjoy creative professionals and know the importance of discretion, trust, and excellence. We handle all the details — from scheduling client appointments to managing your emails and enhancing their media presence — so they can reclaim your time.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Oh boy – as a child, my report card said talks in class and previous bosses have encouraged me to ‘not rock the boat’.

I think my social nature and ability to question why we do things the way we do has helped my business flourish. I have a strange obsession with task lists and details and have always loved helping others.
