Rising Stars: Meet Daniel Command

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Command.

Hi Daniel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
With the encouragement of my wife Sam, I created a YouTube channel in the summer of 2018. With a focus on beard care and helping men achieve their best beard possible. This was done with a mixture of beard product review videos, styling routine demonstrations, educational videos, and livestreams. I have always uploaded 3 videos a week and 2 livestreams a week. As well as bonus videos and streams throughout. I have never missed a video or livestream in almost 6 years. I also created a private Facebook group to grow the community. The Command’s Corner has over 7.5k active members. All this time I was teaching full time and coaching full time. Until I left teaching in June of 2022. I have been a content creator full time for the last 2 years. One of the best decisions I have ever made! I consult with beard product companies on a daily basis. From the largest beard product companies in the world, and all the way to new companies that are in preproduction. I help companies with the marketing. I speak at barber expos and barber schools to teach about beard care. I absolutely love this unique lane I have carved out.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think anyone taking massive risk will experience many struggles and in many different forms. The risk of leaving behind a salary, benefits, retirement, and normalcy can be frightening. Not having a blueprint for this path comes with challenges. However, where there are struggles and challenges, there are opportunities. I wouldn’t change any part of this journey!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In terms of the world of beard care advice, I would say I am known for an educational approach to content. I never try to convince the viewer, but rather simply convey my thoughts, experiences, and opinions. Along side with facts and evidence. I deliver the content in a professional manner and it’s filled with passion. I am proud of my fair approach, my consistency, and my unique content. There is no one you can say my content is similar too. From the videos, to the livestreams, and the community on other platforms.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is to follow passion and happiness will follow. So many people are scared of taking chances and are scared of stepping outside of what is considered normal. When I was discussing making the shift to doing this full time, most people in my life encouraged me not to or tried to find other ways to fill my head with questions and doubt. I understand why and know it comes from a place of love, but also fear. Life short, spend it doing something you love. Don’t dread 5/7ths of your adult life, hoping you reach some mythical retirement finish line.
