Hi Stefaney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Infinity Shampoo Bowl is the first shampoo bowl patented and designed for all hair types and lengths. It allows hair to fall naturally in the bowl and remain extended during washing and treating. Our mission is to enhance the salon experience for both clients and stylists by providing a luxurious and efficient hair washing and treatment experience that caters to individuals of all hair types and lengths. Our vision is to revolutionize the cosmetology industry by redefining the client and stylist experience through innovative technology and practices focused on comfort and efficiency.

Infinity Shampoo Bowl was created by stylist, Stefaney Norcross, and her husband, Jim Norcross. When Stefaney first began her journey as a stylist, over 23 years ago, she was repeatedly frustrated by how hair would clump, tangle, and clog the drain of the shampoo bowl when she was treating and washing clients’ long hair. She felt awful having to spend extra-time meticulously detangling her clients hair while trying to inflict the minimal amount of discomfort, knowing their suffering could be avoided all-together with a little innovation. She thought to herself repeatedly: if only I had a shampoo bowl that allows clients’ hair to remain extended while washing and treating hair. She recalls how she once mentioned her idea to a co-worker and they told her, “You should get a patent for that idea!” However, Stefaney was young and pushed her idea aside; she doubted herself and believed someone else must have surely thought of creating this already, how could she ever bring her vision to life?

Fast forward 20 years and Stefaney still found herself and her clients enduring the same hardships and frustrations day-in and day-out. Not only did Stefaney have to witness her clients with longer hair endure undue pain at her fingertips to achieve the results they desired, but she also had to tolerate discomfort herself, hunching over at a standard shampoo bowl for extended periods of time trying to manage a tangled mess of hair. Though she had long-ago tucked aside her vision for a new shampoo bowl that met the modern demands of clients and stylists, she had never given up on her dream. Her belief grew with every hair washing and treatment that she performed that the cosmetology industry desperately needed a new, cutting-edge way to wash and treat hair.

Now established in her career as a stylist and with the support of her loving husband, Jim, Stefaney decided to finally channel her belief into action to create the innovative solution herself that the cosmetology industry had been desperately waiting for. It was Stefaney and Jim’s desire to elevate the salon experience for clients of all hair types and lengths, while also enhancing comfort and efficiency for stylists – the Infinity Shampoo Bowl was born.

The Infinity Shampoo Bowl is the first shampoo bowl ever designed, and patented, to comfortably accommodate all hair lengths by allowing clients’ hair to remain extended during washing and treatments. The Infinity Shampoo Bowl increases comfort for clients by preventing tangling of hair, improves stylist posture with its raised design, and saves time and water by optimizing the washing and treatment experience. Stylists have full access to hair, from roots to tip, and can accurately see how toners and treatments are affecting the hair. Its unique design also allows stylists to easily keep their salon stations clean, as the Infinity Shampoo Bowl significantly reduces drips and splatters by allowing all the clients’ hair to remain inside the bowl during washing and treatments. Focused on comfort and efficiency, the Infinity Shampoo Bowl is preferred by clients and stylists and is the shampoo bowl of the future!

Jim, handcrafted our first fully-functional Infinity Shampoo Bowl prototype to bring Stefaney’s vision to life in 2022, over 2 decades after she first dreamed up a shampoo bowl to solve the problems she and her clients were experiencing. We are so excited to have debuted the inaugural Infinity Shampoo Bowl at Capellini Salon, as we move forward with our beta-testing phase! We are currently working on creating more prototypes as well as looking for the right manufacturer to bring the Infinity Shampoo Bowl to market.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road to bring the Infinity Shampoo Bowl to life. The biggest challenge so far was after receiving our patent we were not sure what next steps to take. We were stagnant for over a year! Thankfully, our family and friends were encouraging and supportive; we kept going and we eventually found LEAP – the Lansing Area Economic Partnership. They were able to connect us to MSU Innovations and by working closely with members of both organizations we have been able to take action and move forward with our vision of revolutionizing the cosmetic industry.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Stefaney Norcross is a hair stylist with over 20 years of experience. She is a foodie who loves to cook in her spare time. She’s always on the hunt for a unique hand-crafted cocktail or just the right glass of wine. She also loves antiquing for mid-century modern treasures to decorate her home with.

Jim Norcross is an autotech with over 25 years of experience and holds a MECP Master Installation Technician Certification. He loves to spend his time repairing vintage audio equipment, antiquing, drinking good scotch, woodworking and golfing.

Stefaney & Jim also enjoy spending time together at home with their lucky black cat, Mr. Bond.
