Today, we’d like to introduce you to Monique Madison.
Hi Monique, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Monique Madison, and I have been practicing the art of female impersonation for 27 years. I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where I am the owner/creator of the entertainment company The Kunty Kittens.
I am one of the authors of The Serial Showgirls series. I am house cast at Five15 in Royal Oak, Michigan, the home of Drag Queen Bingo. I am also a main hostess for The Comedy Series and love being a stand-up comedian.
I recently made my film debut in the LGBTQ Christmas film called A Holiday I Do, and I also just finished filming season one of a comedy sitcom called The Agency as one of the lead roles named Parker/Iowna.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Of course there has been struggles in the last 30 years of my drag career, however, if you truly are destine for greatness… you will dust yourself off, move forward, and learn from the experience.
My career is not well received by many people in this world, and my life feels like a constant protest as a queer person, but I love what I do so much it makes it worth it. I am so proud of who I am and what I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What am I most proud of? Where do I start? I am so proud of my accomplishments and refuse to be honest about that.
People want to hate on you if you recognize your accomplishments and like yourself. I don’t drink that Kool-Aid. It took a long time and a lot of work to get where I am in life, and I am so thankful and grateful for all of my opportunities.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I come from nothing. I was a very poor child from a small town that trained me not to break the cycle and just continue to accept a mediocre life instead of focusing on my personal happiness.
When you come from nothing, you will do anything to have everything. My work ethic is out of control, and I have been told that I need to slow down by my amazing husband for the last five years.
However, I will never slow down until I have achieved everything I set out to do because successful people do what unsuccessful won’t. It is just that simple.
