Rising Stars: Meet Cederick Campbell

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Cederick Campbell.

Cederick Campbell

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began at Renaissance High School, where I participated in the University of Michigan Arc Prep Program—a course designed to educate and prepare students for a collegiate career in architecture.

It was there that I discovered my aspiration to become a Creative Director. I not only enjoyed the course, but I was also inspired by Virgil Abloh, who gained prominence around that time.

He credited his architectural education with enhancing his design skills and vision. Although I knew I didn’t want to become an architect, I pursued architecture in college, which equipped me with extensive design skills while I also practiced as a stylist and graphic designer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Things have been relatively smooth, thank God! I often ask him for grace and flow as I navigate life’s challenges. With the support of my praying parents, I feel well covered.

Most of my struggles have been internal—believing in myself, accepting who I am, trusting God, and embracing ease and flow. I differ from everyone in ways that are tough to articulate, and I often grapple with a desire to control everything. However, over time, I’m learning to trust God, appreciate my differences, and let things unfold naturally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I specialize in fashion and design, serving as the Creative Director for Code x Rosella, an event production company based in Detroit, MI, with a special focus on fashion.

In this role, I guide the company’s artistic vision, overseeing its overall look and feel. I enjoy this position because it allows me to push my creative needle and showcase my capabilities as a design professional.

In addition, I co-run a graphic design firm, Cederick + McKenzie Design Firm LLC, with my twin brother, McKenzie. In my free time, I do freelance wardrobe styling. I have a passion for fashion and love helping others feel confident in their clothes.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is the significance of rest. In our capitalist society, rest is often viewed negatively and labeled “lazy.” However, rest is essential and should not be seen as a reward but as a vital part of our daily routine.

We need rest to rejuvenate, inspire, and truly connect with ourselves and our bodies. Rest has taught me to slow down, embrace ease and flow, and become more attuned to myself. It has given me the clarity and insight needed to produce outstanding design work and positively impacted my decision-making and temperament.

Contrary to popular belief, prioritize rest if you want a successful career. Rest doesn’t necessarily mean sleep; it can be daydreaming, meditating, walking to clear your mind, or simply closing your eyes for 10 minutes. Just rest—it’s the key to reaching the next level.
