Meet Carolyn LaPan

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn LaPan.

Carolyn LaPan

Carolyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into functional nutrition began with a deep dive into Anatomy and Physiology 101 during my college years.

The intricacies of the human body fascinated me, but my curiosity soon expanded to the complexities of the brain, prompting me to switch my major to psychology. After several years of working as a therapist, I found myself yearning for the medical side I had left behind.

I started following some of the leaders in this field, such as Mark Hyman, MD. Peter Attia, MD, and Tracy Harrison from the School of Applied Functional Medicine. This led me back to school to pursue a career as a functional nutrition practitioner. This decision has been the most fulfilling and empowering career choice, allowing me to connect with people on a deeper level and help them achieve holistic wellness.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey hasn’t always been smooth.

Balancing school, work, and family has often been challenging. But I am a lifelong learner, committed to helping people. The rewards of this work are immense, and I take it very seriously.

When faced with areas outside my expertise, I’m fortunate to have an amazing network to refer to, ensuring my clients get the best possible care. This commitment to continual learning and connection is what drives me every day.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I chose Satori as the name for my company (CL is my initials!) because it means understanding and betterment through education, and I believe deeply in the power of knowledge.

People must understand what’s happening in their bodies. What is inflammation? What causes it? What happens during digestion? Why is sleep important? These questions matter. When people are informed, they are empowered to make better decisions for their health and well-being. This commitment to education and understanding is at the heart of everything I do.

My specialty areas are gut health, hormone balance, and longevity, with a general focus on chronic disease prevention. I offer two main services. The first is 1:1 individual counseling. This is what sets me apart from other health experts. This service is 100% personalized to meet each individual’s needs.

The plan is customized to meet clients where they are and outlines the goals we will work on together. I can order diagnostic tests like gut health examining bacteria, parasites, viruses, etc. Additionally, I can order tests to assess cardiovascular health, hormone levels, kidney function, liver health, and other critical areas. I also offer group programs to provide support and education online and in a community setting.

I want people to become their health advocates and understand that they can change their health trajectory through nutrition, sleep, lifestyle, exercise, stress management, testing, and supplements. It’s about taking action and realizing that these choices can profoundly impact their well-being.

I focus on lifespan—helping people be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. This commitment to empowering individuals to take control of their health is at the core of my work.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality I consider most crucial to my success is a relentless commitment to precision and continuous learning. It’s about diving deep into the science, Staying up to speed on the latest research, and applying that knowledge to create highly personalized health plans.

By combining this rigorous approach with a genuine dedication to understanding each client’s unique needs, I can offer strategies that significantly impact their health and longevity. This blend of meticulous attention to detail and a passion for optimizing human performance is what drives my success.
