Conversations with Daniel McCall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel McCall.

Hi Daniel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory. 
My name is Daniel McCall, and I’m a DJ for Rusch Entertainment! I’ve been DJing for almost five years now, with a large number of shows under my belt! I graduated in 2019 with a degree in Marketing from Saginaw Valley State University and got my first DJ gig at Pierce Road Bar and Grill, where I still DJ college nights to this day on Thursdays! Once I graduated, I traveled to Panama City Beach, Florida, for my first full-time DJ gig, and since then have had a very rewarding career in music! 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first year I went down to Panama City Beach, we had to shut down early due to COVID-19, so for a while, I still had to work at my old pizza delivery job until the bars opened back up. Thankfully, the customers at the time were very generous, and I was lucky enough to be able to practice DJing on livestreams until the club/bar scene reopened. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My specialty right now is my ability as an open-format DJ and the different types of DJ sets I’m good at! I do a lot of weddings with Rusch Entertainment, with 2023 being my first full-time wedding season. I also do very well in the club scene, with having opened for Afroman, Yung Gravy, Steve Aoki, Gordo, and Twinsick! You can still find me playing at multiple locations in Michigan; my most recent show is New Year’s Eve at Prost! Wine Bar and Charcuterie in Frankenmuth was a recent highlight for me that I am very proud of. 

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me the most is putting on the best possible show for the crowd in every aspect when they see me, DJ! I remember going to festivals and shows before I ever DJed and how much fun it was as a fan to go to these shows and see artists perform their songs and remixes. I’m constantly adding new music and making new edits/remixes of popular music to keep my sets interesting and different every time I play.
