Meet Mona Mona of Layla B’s Closet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mona Mona.

Mona Mona

Hi Mona, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
The value, purpose, and goal of running my business is meeting new people and perfectly servicing our consumers. We started this business to set the tone on bringing more awareness to families. It is important for families to have more family photos. Rather it is at home, at the park, holidays, events, or out of town you could pose in the latest fashions. Shopping with us is a one-stop shop for the whole entire family from all ages, even down to the dolls and pets.

We are mother and daughter. It is only us two. The love we have for one another is beyond unbelievable. Having children motivates you to become better, and it gives you strength as well. Not every battle is easy and not all of them are hard to handle. We must learn how to move around all the hurdles and keep on running with success. Having someone looking up to you every day is a blessing. It puts more fire under your flame. Not to mention the fellow friends and associates you hang around on a daily basis. God works in mysterious ways and the way he seen our future; it was to build our Boutique together. Just about once a week, we dress similar to one another. Either the same style, color, or theme. We get so many compliments that I decided after I graduate with my bachelor’s degree, I would open her a store. This business will be fully hers one day and she would use it to raise her family as well. Be your child’s motivation and build generational wealth. These are my goals, and I am living them. Having something to pass down to our children in the future is the main goal. We as parents want a better life for our children always.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Trying to work a job, go to school, be a mother, take care of home, and start a business was frustrating. Every time I sat down, I had to get back up again. There were times where I doubted myself, I wanted to give up, and I didn’t want to go forth. I was worried about if people would shop with me, now I have loyal customers. I wondered where would the funding come from and how would I money manage, now I am a pro at what I do. I had to remember what it is I wanted out of life, and that was to own my own business. I plan to pass this store down to my children one day. I put the store in my daughter’s name to let her know she was my motivation this whole time. I also know how hard it is to support, maintain, and stay focused on business. We get frustrated, we get unmotivated and discouraged. We have to understand that it is ok, we just have to snap out of it and focus on the prize at hand. The prize is our futures. Coming from experience, I learned not to be so hard on yourself and venture out to meet new people. Networking is the key to success. Sometimes, it is not WHAT you know, it is WHO you know. What you learn from others could open bigger doors.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We started our Business back in 2021. Our store came from the idea of having all the items you need to set up a family photo day, to be photo-ready, family-oriented, & color coordinate. Going to get family photos? Need a theme? Can’t think of a nice color scheme? Going on a vacation with your loved one & want to match their fly? Having a photoshoot? Have Twins? Having a party? Shop our Matching Bae cation Sets. No need to go store to store, we have everything that you would need to make sure your events are successful. We have all sizes from newborn through plus sizes. We have a flexible return policy, we offer many deals and discounts. Become a loyal customer and receive nice gifts.

(Examples of Events: baby shower host shirts, Christmas photos, family color scheme outfits, birthdays, parties, vacations, honeymoons, weddings, receptions, bachelor/bachelorette parties, funerals, repass, game night, family reunions, or lady’s night. We are a one-stop shop.)

We are currently working on a brick-and-mortar. It is a process, goal, & dream we are pursuing. But first, we are going to start small and open up locations inside of Plaza’s and Advanced Centers in the year 2024. We participate in Pop-Up Shops and Business events. You could come and meet us in person to shop, pick up orders, place your orders, or just simply talk business. There is also a FREE “Business Tip” Document waiting for you on my website called “Business Tips 101” enjoy.

We want you all to know we donate as well. We donate to Women and Children Shelters Salvation Army’s, and a portion of our processed payments go towards the Next Generation Carbon Removal Purchase Facility.

Our growth has grown tremendously. Our numbers are climbing outrageously. Our views, ratings, likes, shares, and follows are growing continuously. We are located online just about everywhere: Google, Bing, YP, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see my industry thriving, prospering, and setting trends. Matching family outfits down to your baby dolls and pets could never go out of style. I can see a very bright future within my business. I also see knowledge, getting better at optimizing marketing campaigns, applying more ads, and even more experience in my business category. Expansion, networking, commercials, more billboards, and more red-carpet events. I do not see too many matching family stores in Michigan; I want Layla B’s Closet to become #1!!! In Michigan.
