Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Baltimore.
Hi Kimberly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve never been good with words. Through photography, I have been able to create stories and express how I feel. I started off being obsessed taking photos of any and everything. About 7 years ago, I got my first camera. I did a boudoir Photoshoot with two of my friends who did it for uplifting self-love. I wasn’t doing it to make a profit but to bond and heal with my friends. From word of mouth, my boudoir photography took off. In 2020 I officially started my business. I am now able to provide special and intimate memories for a lifetime.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. Having the money to afford equipment is tough. A lot of things were self-taught. I reached out to multiple photographers who didn’t want to help or share information. I studied by watching YouTube videos and reading magazines. Also, during every shoot, something goes wrong. I forget my trigger, my flash, my lens, or my whole camera. You name it, and it has happened. You have to just learn from it all and over prepare!!!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m mostly known for my boudoir work. I am most proud of the outcome of each Photoshoot. Each client feels empowered, confident, and happy when they let themselves be vulnerable in front of the camera. Really working one on one with clients treating them like family vs. a paycheck. I love building lasting relationships with each client so I can document each part of their life. Not just boudoir. I also do self-portraits. That’s something I picked up during quarantine. People love my self-portraits the most.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was shy and awkward growing up. I didn’t hang around a lot of people and stuck to myself. I didn’t have a specific group of friends; I was just friends with everyone.
