Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiawna Bryant.

Tiawna Bryant

Hi Tiawna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello. I am excited as well and I want to thank you for giving me this opportunity to share my story.  I am presently a Registered Nurse, Entrepreneur, Owner/Operator, Instructor/Trainer, and Program Coordinator of Latitude Training Center (LTC). I have been in the healthcare field for over 20 years however; during the past 10 years of my career I have seen how we are truly hurting in the healthcare industry. There has always been a staffing shortage within our medical facilities and currently, the shortage has escalated. With the growing population of our elders/disabled and the increasing number of retiring nurses, we have a combination of obligations that must to be met: more individuals will need care and a host of professionals will need to be replaced.

During my tenure as a Nurse Manager, my time, and energy was devoted to the education and training of Certified Nurse Assistants commonly known as a CNA.

A Certified Nurse Assistant is an individual that earns a two-year certification in pre-nursing, learning to perform basic nursing care skills, how to prevent infections and use proper body mechanics. CNA’s are taught to care for individuals that are unable to help themselves in their activities of daily living (ADL). CNA’s are also trained in emergency response care.

This is where Latitude Training Center steps in. We believe that the foundation of Nursing starts at the bedside; learning how to compassionately care for the patients’ emotional and physical needs. Along with our ADL training, my program teaches other responsibilities of a CNA, such as caring for the patient before it’s time to administer a medication, hang an IV, or dressing a wound. We teach the fundamentals of nursing so aspiring essential workers can go on to become Nurses and Doctors and fill the voids in our healthcare system.

I figured this is the perfect opportunity for me to give back to my community while helping others grow and tap into their own potential! My program makes for an excellent start in the field of healthcare.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had to first wrap my head around becoming an Entrepreneur and knew I had to start somewhere. I sought out a training program and took classes to teach me the basics of entrepreneurship. The course was helpful and guided me through the entire process. I appreciate those individuals that were willing to reach out and help me obtain my goals by offering their expertise and time. I am forever grateful.

To speak to becoming an entrepreneur; it takes an individual that is highly determined when the odds are against you. It was not easy for me to walk away from a corporate nursing career to start a business, and be fully convinced that it was going to work.

Any aspiring business owner is going to need a support system and a strong belief system, not to mention working capital. As a determined entrepreneur, you have to invest in yourself and align yourself with the right people. Once you have taken yourself as far as you can go; in the areas where you lack the knowledge or expertise, you have to incorporate the experts. In order to grow as a business owner, you will need a supportive team of experts that believes in your vision and want nothing less but to see you succeed!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally what makes me proud is knowing that my business is supporting the growing population of elders, potentially filling staffing shortages in our medical facilities and addressing the idleness of our young adults in the community. Some of our young people don’t have a clue as to what they want to do after high school, and if they do, they don’t know where or how to start.

A four-year college degree or campus life isn’t for everyone. Latitude Training Center exists so that individuals in our community have an opportunity to gain a lifelong skill trade that can be utilized to support themselves and or grow a family.

I believe in leading by example, whether it’s with positive energy, boosting confidence to learn something new, or just being good at what you’re doing.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
My favorite go-to books are

Every Day I Pray:by Iyanla Vanzant
The Promises of God:   by TD Jakes
My Affirmation:  “Without my faith and holding on to God’s promises the struggle would be difficult to endure”
