Check Out Caitlyn Coldwell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Coldwell.

Hi Caitlyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Caitlyn Coldwell; I first became interested in modeling in 2016, shortly before losing my mother to Cancer. I began reaching out to some of my friends who do photography and modeling, asking questions about the industry. I lost my mother to cancer in October of 2017 and my father in July of 2018 to cancer. It wasn’t until June of 2021 that I really began modeling, I started by having my friend Betty Besaw take some pictures for my portfolio, and I posted them on my Facebook and Instagram. I began searching for photographers and open model invitations after about a month; I had a photographer who had viewed my work reach out to me. From there, I began doing shoots every month for the last year. Consistency, perseverance, and really paying attention to what my photographers were doing and teaching me is how I got to where I am in just a year of modeling.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road as far as booking shoots and finding my comfort zone within shooting. However, I think my biggest challenge so far has been remembering the best way to pose for my body and finding paid opportunities. I absolutely love what I do regardless of the financial aspect. It is a huge confidence builder, and no amount of money can or will change what I’ve already received out of modeling.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a freelance model; I mainly focus on boudoir and swimwear. However, I am always open to all sorts of ideas. I do special effects makeup, and I cannot wait to incorporate some into my modeling work. I am most proud of being in 3 magazines in just a year of modeling. I feel that with me always being open to any shoot style sets me apart from others because I am willing to step out of my comfort zone more freely.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Have fun with it, keep it professional, and don’t worry, you’re new, you will catch on quickly. Make sure you make it clear what you are comfortable with doing and stick with your gut. Ask your photographer if they are comfortable with you bringing someone with you. Never go to the first few shoots with new photographers alone.
