Today we’d like to introduce you to Alec Wimpari.
Hi Alec, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello reader, my name Is Alec! I’m a 21-year-old trans man, collector, crafter, cat lover, and goth. I grew up with a strong single mother and grandmother. They taught me my strong sense of style and self that I carry with me today. I’ve always loved the Halloween/Vampire aesthetic since fourth grade, and before I can remember wearing skulls and bones.
I guess I consider myself an artist, I create makeup looks to become inhuman-looking, animal-like, cartoonish, or even elf-like. It depends on the day; sometimes I bare face while others I’ve balanced the shadows on my facial canvas matching my goth dress. Vampirific. Monster High is what inspired me the most growing up. They taught me that styling looks for myself and others is cathartic; a bond can be presented, positivity when your clothes validate your truest self. I plan to attend a makeup academy for special effects and skin care. As I’ve attempted many things, I would like to pursue classes.
I believe fashion has no gender. I am inspired by mode fashion and Ouji fashion + other Lolita sub-styles. In my free time, I like to dance and sketch outfit plans, blueprints if you will! I also partake in the cosplay community, and the PLUR rave +fur community! I create Perler fuse beads to gift to friends I make along the way or for commission!
Small acts of kindness can go a long way.
I’ve yet to perform in drag, yet I most definitely have some drag friends I cannot wait to see again soon. I’ll be releasing a Barbie drag transformation (for Necto pride this coming June)
I couldn’t be more excited. Thank you so much for your interest in Al.icky Inquiry Jessica -Voyage
Till next time
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growing up an only child had its pros and cons. I was diagnosed with anxiety quite young. I’ve grown a lot since the days where I was suffering from mutism.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do makeup in a lucid goth creature THING way. Sandy Taboo, a non-binary creator from California, released neon eyeliners; I got a lot of cyber goth satisfaction from that! I once upon a time had neon green and black hair, eyebrows to match. Electric Lizard green by Manic Panic was a must-have. I want my mullet back; then it’s Mohawk time! I love to play with androgyny with my makeup and style. I mostly wear black, if not black and white stripes.
I’ve also done my family’s makeup for holiday evenings. I iron craft and dabble in customizing clothing pieces from the thrift store and from my friends’ closets. We all try to donate to each other for costumes and such. Donate elsewhere and shop second-hand as much as we sustainably can! I mean, I didn’t really grow up with a lot of money, so it was normal to me to shop second-hand. I’m glad to have found people who won’t judge me for it.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Those who spread hate to you are most likely insecure within themselves. Love yourself, do good for your mind, your body, your family, your chosen family, and those around you. If someone is making you walk on eggshells, it’s time to pack it up
