Today we’d like to introduce you to Tameka Murray.
Hi Tameka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
By the age of 37, I had become…
Domestic Violence Survivor
Divorced
Single Parent of 2 teenage girls
Bankrupt
Homeless
Recovering from car injury
And a freshman in college
Due to me making one life-changing decision to love myself first. Loving myself first cost me somethings, but in the end, I did not lose everything; I gained my wings to fly high over the mountain instead of remaining stuck climbing the mountain. This was one of the most pivotal times of my life. I had to start completely over, alone. I had to rediscover myself, find happiness, purpose, and self-love. No one prepares you for isolation or the weight of the burdens that are carried for allowing self-sacrifice. As women, we get caught up in doing what is necessary instead of remaining a necessity.
This process made me do more than to just look in the mirror, I had to accept, forgive, and unconditionally love the woman I saw in the mirror. My reflection was not about perfection; it was about pain and redirection. I had to require more than just understanding, I had to ignite authenticity, a valuable identity…a new me. It was not easy, I wanted to give up several times – go back to what was familiar and comfortable. Every time I thought about going back, the pain redirected my focus toward freedom.
First one to tackle on my healing agenda Domestic Violence Survivor, I began to share my raw feelings and story through self-published books a diary of Poems Encourage Her and Replenish Her. I also wrote short stories Ignite the Woman in Hiding and Grounded in guilt, surrounded by Grace. I began vlogging on social media to encourage women to be the best version of themselves after Domestic Violence and divorce. As I continued my healing and restoration journey, I still wanted to help on a personal level, so I became a Certified & Master Life Coach focusing on goal setting, purpose, and happiness which has landed me into transformational speaking. I am Tameka the Speaker.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Divorce is like a death, and I encountered and completed all the stages. I have lost “friends” along the way, been talked about, lied on, lied to. The details of my life should be featured on Lifetime Movie Network. I have learned that we all have the same story, just different characters.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The “B” Word Specialist promotes BCE (Big Confidence Energy). The “B” Word covers Boundaries, Balance, Boldness, Blessed, and Bougie. These words represent a woman’s courage, resilience, and confidence. I offer transformational speaking, life coaching, books, and or merchandise to inspire and ignite the woman in hiding. Once a woman’s fire has been lit, she will light the next woman’s torch – I am my sister’s keeper.
What do you think about happiness?
Encouraging someone to not give up or be more than your past. Pain happened to you; it was never about you.
