Daily Inspiration: Meet Samuel Peters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Peters.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I Started making music at a young age and was always writing songs. I released a lot of music under different labels and monikers all throughout high school and college. I Graduated from the MAT Program at WMU (Multi-Media Arts Technology) as well as Interned at Audiotree in Chicago in 2018. I then started Interning at La Luna Recording and Sound in Kalamazoo in 2019 which turned into a becoming a staff engineer. Around that same time I started my own recording studio out of my house. I quit my part-time job as a line cook in 2019 and somehow became a full-time engineer and producer. The home studio started to really take off in 2020. I’m just incredibly grateful for all the awesome people I work with.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been quite smooth so far. The freelance engineer life is pretty rewarding. I work a lot, but I really love what I do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I like to tell people that I’m a sonic world builder or like a sonic architect. It sounds super cheesy, but I don’t know, it has a cool ring to it. My goal is to help facilitate creativity. I may not be the best musician or engineer, but I think I’m tapped into creative energy in a way that artists find useful.

I think something that sets me apart from other people is that I’m good at just making things happen. I think it’s important in any creative process to just literally do something, anything at all. Like paint blue line, or fry an egg, or build a sandcastle! Like, just make something happen. It might sound silly, but it’s a good starting point. Sometimes people like to the feel the momentum of their creative energy moving forward, and in order to do so, you might need to just put a lot of ideas into action, whether they are good or bad.

I do a lot of different things, and I’m brought into projects for many different reasons, I just cater to what the project needs.

I’m proud of so much that I work on and I just feel so grateful that I’m able to share my creativity with the world. Shoutout literally everyone I work with. They’re the real MVP’s.

What matters most to you?
I don’t really ever think about this question, so I just feel like I want to say something silly like the bees matter most to me!

But in all seriousness, I would say music, friends and family is what matters most to me. It just is what it is.
