Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Bogg.
Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be in the helping profession; I just was not sure what that would look like. My freshman year of college, I had a class that required us to volunteer somewhere that was in our field of interest. I was set up with a wonderful place called common ground sanctuary and knew I had found the path I wanted to take. I began working there and was able to work in the field while completing my undergraduate degree in social work. Not only did this help me gain experience, I was able to develop skills and tools that still help me in my career today. From there, I went on to receive my master’s degree and worked with different populations, including assertive community treatment, dual diagnosis, and outpatient clinic settings, all before deciding I was ready to open up a practice of my own. I opened Green Rose Counseling in 2019 and expanded services offered and availability with two therapists, Anne Marie Caldwell, MS, LLP, and Kristi Rose, LMSW, CCTP, that have since joined the Green Rose Counseling team.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A year after opening, the pandemic began. Transitioning everyone to teletherapy was a process; making sure everyone felt comfortable in their space, getting creative with how to still make it feel as in person as possible, and other things included, were difficult initially. However, the transition went as smoothly as it could, and majority of patients are satisfied and confusing to do session this way. We as a team have found a lot of our patients enjoy doing teletherapy as it does provide more confidence in attending appointments. For some patients struggling with anxiety, it has been helpful for them to begin their therapy process because they are able to feel more comfortable by doing session in their own environment.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Green Rose Counseling provides outpatient therapy for a variety of areas, including anxiety, depression, trauma, brain injuries, postpartum, eating disorders, and more. We offer mindfulness, person-centered, solution-focused CBT, and other therapeutic models.
We offer in-person and teletherapy.
We accept a wide variety of insurances and private pay.
We also offer groups, including yoga, thanks to our therapist Anne Marie Caldwell, who is also a certified yoga instructor. Sessions are held in the summer held on the grounds of our office building which backs up to beautiful scenery.
We have also participated in collaborations with stores to help provide resources for patients, including discounted rates for boredom boxes and other play therapy, mindfulness activities.
Green Rose is known for being
A place for clarity, support, encouragement, peacefulness, validation, connection, and more.
I often get asked how I came up with the name Green Rose. Green roses represent harmony, rebirth, and tranquility. A green roses symbolize best wishes for a prosperous new life or wishes for the recovery of good health.
Our motto is “start your growth today.”
And during the therapy process we transition to the saying, “grow with it.”
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I love the field of social work because of its versatility. Social work is such a broad precession with the opportunity to work with many different populations. I encourage anyone going into this field to try working with different populations to see what they enjoy doing most and identifying what populations and areas you connect the most with.
My favorite quote that has helped me is by Albert Einstein. “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
