Hidden Gems: Meet Sarah Maiga of Maiga Homes Luxury Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Maiga. 

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I began my journey into the service industry in 2008 when I received a Congressional Medal of Merit for demonstrating exemplary citizenship, academic excellence, and an outstanding sense of service to my peers, education, and community. Following that, I completed my bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in International Relations. During my time at the University, I assisted in the coordination and implementation of an Undergraduate Research Experience program where I was responsible for helping potential students acclimate to the area and see themselves as living in Michigan permanently. During my employment, I gained valuable insight into what motivates someone to move here and found it very rewarding. I continued down this career path by doing Graduate School Recruitment at the University of Michigan School of Public Health following graduation. While working in higher education, I developed an even greater acclimation toward service as well as an entrepreneurial mindset. On evenings and weekends, I built a successful marketing and graphic design company from the ground up that allowed me to quit my full-time job and pursue my real passion; real estate. I had always wanted to transition to a career as a real estate professional, but given the financial constraints of the job, and my obligation to my family, I had to find the right time to make my move. After getting my license, I joined one of the top-producing teams in the Canton/Plymouth area. During my time with them, I was able to learn the pros and cons of working for a team as well as how I can best serve and represent my clients. I quickly became the top producer in my office completing over 24 million in residential real estate sales in just 2 years. Throughout my time, I was able to gain a reputation for excellence, integrity, and negotiating prowess. In order to continue growing and representing my clients to the best of my ability, in 2018, I decided to start Maiga Homes as the proud Broker, Owner & Realtor. 

I’m incredibly proud that in my 7 years in the industry, I have sold over $100,000,000 in residential real estate. Furthermore, in 2020 I was recognized by the National Association of Realtors as a 30 Under 30 Honoree; in 2021, I was the June cover feature for Real Producers Magazine of Ann Arbor/Brighton; and in 2022, I was the July cover feature for Real Producers Magazine of Wayne County. I also received recognition as one of the 10 Best Realtors in Michigan for my commitment to exceptional customer service. I have also had the pleasure of serving on several leadership councils, including the Greater Metropolitan Association of Realtors Government Affairs Committee (2019) & the Ann Arbor Realtors Young Professionals Network (2020). 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish I could say it has been 100% smooth, but being in the service industry while running a business and being a wife and mother has come with its challenges. For the first three to four years in the industry, it felt like I had no choice but to make sacrifices in my personal life to gain traction and success in my career. It was very hard to manage client expectations, set proper boundaries & preserve my health while prioritizing real estate. I had to learn that I cannot be everything to everyone all the time, and saying no to a client didn’t mean my business would crumble. In fact, once I learned to prioritize uninterrupted time with my family and both my physical & mental health, my client list grew, and my fulfillment increased.

I am the Broker/Owner of Maiga Homes Luxury Real Estate. It is a boutique real estate brokerage that focuses on the ultimate client experience with an emphasis on educating and preparing our clients to make one of the biggest financial decisions they will make in their life. I work one-on-one with all of my clients from start to finish by sitting down with them up front and evaluating their goals, needs & desires. By understanding in depth what is motivating my clients, what their pain points are & their worries and concerns, it allows me to help guide them to a decision that makes the most sense for their life while also proposing resources and presenting options they may not be aware of. I always approach a client meeting with the mindset that I am there to help them by filling in any missing pieces of the real estate puzzle that they need to feel comfortable and informed with whatever decision that they decide to make. Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am an avid board game collector & when I get some free time, I like to spend an entire day learning and playing a new game. Whether it is resource collection, a cooperative style game, role-playing, or building a fictitious army to that may end up at war, I LOVE learning new games. In fact, I own over 100 board games and have a designated area in our home just to host game days!
