Today we’d like to introduce you to Dara Bradshaw.
Hi Dara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business back in 2021 with hoping to help out my community starting with the kids who parents didn’t have time to do their hair or maybe didn’t have the money for hair accessories. I wanted to be able to help out because I feel like no child should be left behind or be bullied because their hair was not done. I also help out with mental adults being able to have their hair done as well. My goal has always been to travel to and from people homes who does not have the access to a salon or the money, so I am obtaining my cosmetology license soon. But for now, I braid hair and also re-twist dreads, and do young kids’ hair at a fair price.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. There has been time where people didn’t wanna pay the amount, or some people that don’t show up on time for the appointment or does not cancel in time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a medical assistant. I have been for about seven years, but as I stated, I’ve also always done here. I’ve been doing here since I was younger, maybe around when I was 10 or 11; I would do my family members’ hair. I specialize in braiding, and I am known for doing braids, especially box braids, Fishbones, or an Allen Iverson braids. I’m most proud of them more that I’m learning and how I’m able to just help out other people SS me apart from other people because even if they cannot pay, I still find a way to do their hair.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I create my own hair oil that helps out with breakage in growth
