Meet O’mar Aleem

Today we’d like to introduce you to O’mar Aleem.

Hi O’mar, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Started from following in My Father’s footsteps, I took training in trades of martial arts and the beauty industry. Eventually, just like him owning my own Beauty salon, OmarsTouch, and teaching martial arts called Aleem Academy. Becoming inspired with different ways of helping the community and watching as thought to be troubled youth became the use role Models, I created a nonprofit I called R. E. A. C. H. standing for: Rsing, Equally, As, Community, Heals…

Though like everything in life, a need for balance presented itself in an unfortunate incident of me having a stroke a year ago. Losing much of myself through the battles whether physical and emotional pains afterwards I found a new talent I have never thought before. Many saw my fight back to the light and became inspired to wear, poof out of nowhere; I’m now one of Michigan leading male models as well as creating a photography business in the same process.

Amazing the past life takes us and how quickly we can lose it all and gain even more before we truly have time to understand. These are the things that have made me stand out as a positive role model in Muskegon, Mi. My heart lies in the same streets that paved the way to creating a better outlet for the next generation to use as a guide. Proud and blessed as ever I am to be a member and business leader of the city of Muskegon here in Michigan.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

– O’mar Aleem

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Sorry, I rambled on a bit in my last answer to the previous question that has answered this one. My struggles were with insecurity of having so much and being so far looked upon to losing everything and abandoned by the ones I loved most in my life. Through a spiral of depression and came close to giving up, I found inner strength in the power of will to keep pursuing on. Little did I know people were still watching even though I felt so alone. Little did I know my pain was an inspiration to those alike.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
A male model in a field of fashion boudoir and mail art form. Something unheard of in the city of Muskegon and Muskegon heights where more frowned-upon titles are known. My strong demeanor and endless motivation have pushed me beyond my competition of others in the field from other states and never dedication to practicing every step pose, and look that I can confidently say to anyone against me, ” You Will Not Out Work Me!”

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice is to never second-guess yourself and just take the step, take the leap. There are resources out there, but they’re not resources that are given to just anyone they’re only given to those who are seeking it. To better your understanding of Art, less from pen and paper and more to a way of life.
