Meet Brittany Gregory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Gregory.

Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
At the age of 12, I learned how to bake cakes and making frostings from scratch by helping my mother with her cake business. I worked a few different jobs through my teenage years, and I finally quit my job at 20 years old to pursue a career in cake and treat making. I celebrate my 8-year anniversary this upcoming July.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle was learning money management and learning to ensure that I pay myself properly with funds acquired from sales. My only regret is that I should have saved a lot more money before removing my main source of income from my old job. Also, learning that I cannot please everyone all the time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in custom cakes; mason jar treats, and cheesecakes. I’m most proud of winning the Best Bakery in Detroit award in 2018. I was voted in and received first place. What sets me apart is being very young when I started and making Jars of Perfection a recognize able household name.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The best lesson I learned is that you get what you give in business. If you go hard and give it your all, you’re going to have better results than just “trying.” You have to really do a lot to receive the wins you want. You can’t just expect things to come to you because you started a business.
