Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Hinken.
Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In August of 2021, I made the decision to leave my job as a Unit Clerk at University of Michigan Hospital to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. When my son Benson was born in May of 2021, I entered this phase of loneliness and anxiety. I was so used to being surrounded by people every day at work I did not know how to handle being alone for 8 hours every day. I was scrolling on TikTok one day and saw moms having fun and creating content. I decided to start creating my own videos. My first video was posted when my son was 3 months old. My videos started out as just cute videos of my son, but then I started to post videos of me talking, dancing, making recipes, creating coffee, and so many other things. The community of moms on TikTok encouraged me to keep posting and being myself. The community of moms helped me overcome my loneliness and anxiety. I had gained this feeling of confidence in my ability to make videos. I was not afraid to be myself anymore. I started to post the same videos on Instagram and Facebook, and I have enjoyed seeing my videos encourage others. Creating content has led to brands reaching out to me to make videos about their products and has encouraged others to continue to be themselves no matter what people think. I have also created my own notebooks that I sell on Amazon, and own a small business with my husband Bradley called Hinken LLC. Hinken LLC is a business where we help other small businesses start their business. I am so thankful for all the opportunities that God has put in my life. I’m loving the life that I am living as a Mama, Content Creator, Wife, and Homemaker.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road for content creating. The algorithm is constantly changing for each platform. I had to learn ways to make videos that would help them gain more views. I had to change my techniques for how I made videos to improve them. I also went through this phase where I was doubting that my videos were good enough. I had to remind myself to just keep being myself and not worry about what others think about them.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Content Creator on social media, notebooks Creator on Amazon, and Small Business Owner of Hinken LLC with my husband Bradley. I love to use my videos on social media platforms to encourage and teach others things that I have learned. I am so proud of all the things that I have accomplished so far as a content creator.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as striving every day to take steps towards your dreams no matter what people think.
