Check Out Amara Hoddy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amara Hoddy.

Hi Amara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I had started waitressing at 18, with a couple roommates in a small apartment in Lansing. Through friends, I had been asked to be in a music video with about 6 other people. After that, I honestly fell in love working on independent projects and started on an entrepreneurship route through modeling and social media.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, I don’t think anyone could say life is a smooth road though. I got pregnant at 20, and I had a pregnancy condition called Hyperemesis Gardavium. I was hospitalized over 21 times throughout 9 months. This was my biggest struggle in life was the rocky transition to becoming a mother. But my family has given me more motivation than ever.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I really love how far I’ve come in modeling, all the money I’ve made, traveling, and amazing experiences like you could except. But really, what I think is consistently bringing me real satisfaction, joy, and some proud moments in myself is my ability to learn new skills and learn from others. I have more interests and passions; I love art and music along with business and economics. This is only the start of many things for me.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Lansing; I love the people, I love the culture, I love the potential. Everything from the parks to the bars. There’s really so much here, and I am excited by how fast it has expanded and grown since I was a kid honestly. The weather here I could do without the snowstorms in March, but we got boots for that.
