Check Out Terrence Green’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Green.

Hi Terrence, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
When I was in high school, we had this important senior year project where we teamed up with others to either re-enact a William Shakespeare play or we team up with another person to act like we were interviewing William Shakespeare. I found this software where I could create animated videos like you would create a PowerPoint. I created an animated video bringing William Shakespeare to “life” and acted like I was interviewing him and even talking about some of his plays. The teacher loved my animation and showed it to her other 4 classes as well.

A few years later I had the thought of getting an app developed but needed a way to communicate the idea to a lot of people at once in a simple way. I thought about the idea of a professional animated video. I looked into getting one made, and it was too expensive for me to even consider. I looked into getting some freelance artist to create it for me, but the quality was not what I needed. So, I went back to the software I used my senior year of high school and created my own animated video. I was able to use the video to communicate the idea of my app. After I received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback, I had the thought of creating animation for small business owners to use to market their organization. That is where the idea of my animation company started.

So, through college, I started my animation business and would improve and learn as I go on. 8 months after graduating college I was able to work for my company full time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but it is better that way. I have had different struggles and they all prepared me and made me ready for the future.

One obstacle was when I would tell businesses that I did animation, they loved the idea of animation, but I did not realize they did not know how to use animation for their business. I would always hear “This is a great idea and business, literally every business should be using your services” But the thing is, the person saying that would never take action and buy from us. I didn’t know why until I started asking clients if they knew how to use animation for their business, then they admitted they didn’t. So, when I would tell business owners what I did, I included some examples of how animation can be used in businesses. Then I started to see more people take action.

Another challenge is that I am currently 26 owning my business. So, I realize that there are always initially doubts as far as credibility and skill. I put a lot of effort and time into building my credibility of my business for this reason. We have fortune 500 clients, and we do regular work for the City of Memphis. I host workshops on digital marketing, and we give out a lot of free content on social media.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What do we do: we make animated videos for organizations to use to Educate, Entertain, or Explain. So internal training, educational content on YouTube, short films, history videos, and marketing are great examples of what animation can be perfect for.

We specialize in animation that educates an audience on different topics. Because you can really tell a story and give examples with animation. You can also break down complex topics to make them simple to understand. We also love bringing history to life with animation. I say all the time you can’t bring history to life with any other tool like you can with animation. You truly can go back in the past and tell the story

We are known for our animation and digital marketing knowledge. But especially with animation in our area, when people hear the word “animation,” we hear that they think about our company. Our goal is that we be known for animation around the United States next

I am most proud that we area making a market here in Memphis, TN. Most times, when people have these skills they may move to an area where the market is already established and familiar with animation. I have made it a point that we create a market in places where there is not one. This allows youth after us to have more access to these skills and pursue careers in these fields

What’s sets us apart? One we are laser-focused on our client’s goals of what they want to accomplish, and we are very persistent. If we want it, we go get it. Plan and simple

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
When I think about luck, I have always heard that luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

I truly believe that I always try to continue learning and to stay prepared for the situations I would like to happen. And we even go to pursue those opportunities. Whether it is networking or reaching out to the people we may need to speak to.

I would also say all of it is blessing. I have a strong relationship in God, and he has helped paved a way for me. That is the only reason I am where I am today, Trust me, I have tried doing things myself, and it’s been times where nothing would work. But out of nowhere, something happens that I needed. And most times, I didn’t even know or want to accept it at the time. But in the long run, it has always been what is best. The only way for me to explain that is God
