Hello Absolute Homecare Medical Staffing, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Family is everything for co-owners Becky Bigelow and Bobbie Ray. Warm memories rooted in love and reminiscent of multigenerational gatherings fill their soul and fuel their heart. Both were raised into close-knit families with strong maternal influences, helping shape the women they are today. Bobbie fondly recalls time shared with her grandmother and the grace & love she displayed while balancing a career and caring for grandfather. The life lessons were countless, and at the core, family remained the constant. Today, Becky and Bobbie help serve our extended families in Southwest Michigan through their good work in home care, providing services to promote living life at home for aging loved ones. Their agency, Absolute Homecare and Medical Staffing is a lifeline for families living near or far and service solution for individuals desiring to age in place, heal at home or enjoy concierge services. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge? Being courageous. Despite having worked in the health industry for years prior, taking the brave leap into ownership required the most courage either could muster. Overcoming imposter syndrome proved to be the feat of courage needed to drive a dream into a reality.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We have the privilege and honor of helping our community in their time of need, providing in-home care and private nursing solutions to support aging in place, healing at home, and concierge services. Absolute Homecare is client-focused, crafting individualized care plans for each participant. Often, we can be thought of as an extension of family, providing support, companionship, and comfort. Services may include assistance with daily activities (like dressing or grooming), medication reminders, light housekeeping, or meal preparation. Our nursing services offer in-home blood draws, Coumadin checks, and medication set-ups, too. Families can determine the frequency of care and have the flexibility dial up or down services as needed. Becky accounts taking care of a loved one is a team effort, saying, “Mom raised nine kids, and it took nine kids to take care of Mom.” At Absolute, we like to think of ourselves as part of your care team, your village, your resource for changing needs, and community support.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
There have been a lot of changes over the years but at the end of the day a constant: there is no place like home. The desire to live life at home remains, and with support services like ours, you can often do so safely. As the demand for care increases, so does the opportunity to give back to the community. Absolute Homecare and Medical Staffing continues to grow to best meet community needs. We are grateful for our incredible, dedicated staff and thankful for our community partners and all essential workers serving our community.
