Today we’d like to introduce you to Henrietta Hadley.
Henrietta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always enjoyed helping others and contributing to my community. My Girl Scouts experience was the first organization I learned leadership skills & the importance of teamwork. During my college years at Western Michigan University, I participated in every club or attend most activities hosted on campus to broaden me college career during my undergraduate experience. Before my graduation from college, I landed my first management position and fell in love with leading a winning team in business. Later I was recommended to train other managers across the country and was offered a position to teach at Baker college and fell in love with teaching and preparing students for their professional careers. I started my first company in the late 80’s called Glamor Unlimited assisting individuals with all thing fashion and performing Arts and I relocated to San Diego to teach at the Fashion Institute & Merchandising after I met my ex-husband in CA, and we relocated with his job and started our Family in Pennsylvania. I started another company called Fashion, Etc,LLC assisting Fashion Designer with marketing new lines to the retail industry. After my daughter started school.
I knew I wanted to continue to work with students pursuing their careers in business.
After assisting individuals with their business goals and dreams. Decided to start my consulting business assisting small business owners with accessibility to resources and capital to grow and expand their businesses. I really enjoyed working at Grand Valley State University as the program Manager for the Lend GR program working with business owners from across the State of Michigan and GVSU students from various majors work together for 30 days on a business project to help improve their businesses in the area that the students were skilled to assist the businesses. This program provided great opportunities to mentor students and coach business owners.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road on my journey has been smooth and exciting. Living in various geographical areas I have met the most interested individuals and learned a great deal from others. I also realize that my foundation of life was built with solid morals and standards to meet most challenges that came my way!! I must give my family, community and friends a huge thanks for preparing me for a world of uncertainty and unexpected circumstances. Overall, I appreciate everything thing I experienced good, bad, and indifferent. It has created the woman I am today
