Community Highlights: Meet Kenyetta Campbell of The Detroit Smoothie Spot

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenyetta Campbell.

Kenyetta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Health & Wellness is extremely important for longevity. After battling with obesity for many years, I decided that enough was enough! My weight loss journey began 8/19/2018 after returning from my brother’s wedding. After looking at a photo and barely recognizing myself, I knew that it was time to shift gears. At that time, I didn’t realize that not only did it changed my life physically but also emotionally, financially, and psychologically.

A year later, I was diagnosed with a heart blockage & high blood pressure. Layered on top of being asthmatic and suffering from sleep apnea. This news sped up my need to change my eating habits and become more physically active. Joining Synergy Works in Southfield was life-changing. Coach Jewels patiently assisted me with getting more comfortable with weight training and taking my journey to another level.

Apart of the diet change, was consuming green smoothies daily. The results were awesome which lead me to prepping smoothies for family and friends. With the success of my family & friends’ weight loss and my desire to began a movement for women, Fit 2 Win Detroit & The Detroit Smoothie Spot were launched. These two companies work hand and hand.

Fit 2 Win Detroit is a movement established primarily for women to provide a safe space for people to bond together through physical fitness and moral support. Balance*Motivation*Results are our key major goals.

We organize weight loss challenges, fit club in partnership with Synergy Works, walking club, group accountability, nutritional smoothies, one on one coaching, speaking engagements, fitness coaching referrals.

Fit 2 Win Detroit went from having five clients to over 200 people that I’ve been able to impact in the past three years of losing weight. Obese women are my target market. However, I do help everyone from all walks of life. But that’s my target market—women. Because a lot of women are able to relate to my journey.”

I enjoy opening myself up to meet people where they are and find out how I can be of assistance to help them attack life challenges while also helping them lose weight and be healthy.

THE DETROIT SMOOTHIE SPOT is my mobile smoothie bus. Our truck is more than just a place to grab delicious smoothies. Our delicious smoothies are packed with delicious fruit and vegetables. It is a place to learn about healthy living.  We bring great smoothies to locations all over our city. This year we provided healthy smoothies to over 5000 customers at over 100 events. Quadrupling our earnings in one year.

Overcoming obesity and assisting 200+ women on their journey while creating two businesses was rocky road at times. It was often a struggle to remain focused on my journey while trying motivate others along the way. However, watching the success rate of my clients assists with me getting back on track when I would have my daily struggles. As Owner of The Detroit Smoothie Spot, Fit 2 Win Detroit, and Founder and CEO of the Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance it’s been a pleasure impacting lives and communities. The Detroit Smoothie Spot mobile smoothie bus has connected with the metropolitan Detroit communities by providing healthy food option. Initially, the business was a home-based business that quickly morphed into a full-service food truck. We provide 8 different flavors that are Island themed. Island Kiss, Island Tease, Island Wish, Island Strawnana, Island Berry Nice, Island Squeeze, Island Sexy Surprise, and Island Crush. We also provide frozen fruit bowls packed with nutrients.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
For the past 15 years, I’ve had the pleasure of operating a 1.5 million dollar non-profit that impacts the Cody Rouge neighborhood on the Westside of Detroit. This organization is near and dear to my heart because I’ve been able to impact the lives of thousands of families including young people and senior citizens in the neighborhood where I was born and raised. From providing scholarships to teens, technology to seniors, renovating a local park, and playing a key role in ensuring that residents save their homes. I’ve had the pleasure of going beyond the call of duty.

My leadership sparked $20+ millions in investments in Detroit’s Cody Rouge community. Said investments helped leverage partnerships with several foundations, corporations, governmental bodies, and nonprofit corporations, i.e., The Skillman Foundation, Kresge Foundation, Ford Foundation, General Motors, DTE Energy, Trinity Health, Ballmer Group, Ralph Wilson, LISC, United Way, Foot Lock, and Enterprise just to name a few.

During the pandemic, the agency was key in providing financial resources, basic needs, access to technology, and job opportunities.
