Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Stringham.
Hi Derek, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Never planned on doing hair!!! 2014 I graduated with associate’s in Business Administration and Management from Baker College of Owosso
Visited Douglas J Aveda Institute in 2015 and fell in love with the industry. Enrolled into Douglas J Aveda
2016-Graduated with honors from Cosmetology and accelerated Esthetician.
2016-2017 worked full-service salon
2017, wanted to expand my barbering knowledge
2017 Hired into Jude’s Barbershop, worked and managed for 4 years.
2021- left Jude’s and opened Manscape Hair Co
2021 graduated with my massage therapy degree (4-month program)
2022 graduated with my educator license (5-month program)
Which brings me to my favorite part.
Owned and operated by Derek Stringham, ManScape Hair Company is Lansing’s hub to all your grooming needs. A local Lansing company allowed to be achieved through the support of faithful clients, the community, partnered with determination and resilience. Originally established in 2019 and now a reality, breaking grounds in 2021, Manscape Hair Company opens its doors to welcome everyone. ManScape Hair Co is an old-world gentlemen’s barbershop with a modern-day twist, a twist where people of all walks can come, feel welcomed, and get serviced. It’s a place where today’s progressive society can sit back, relax and experience the art of grooming and salon-type services in an old-world gentlemen’s club-type atmosphere which is derived to be gender fluid and therapeutic. Manscape is aimed at an exclusive market and a discerning customer base and overall will add tremendous value to our growing community while offering a combination of gender-fluid grooming services not widely offered currently by any local competitor in the greater Mid-Michigan area.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
