Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Owens.
Hi Isaiah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The way that it all started was I had this thought in my mind that If I start photography, I will still be able to create amazing content because of Covid I wasn’t able to shoot high school basketball games anymore. I saw a post later down the road in just those few months about a workshop about beginner- Photography class. I was super excited and decided to go, I met a guy named Jet which became my mentor to start my photography journey. December 202o came around and my mentor was having free rentals for the first week of December, so this was my chance to get into photography and to really learn how to take photos. During this week I was able to learn how to hold the camera correctly, be comfortable talking to people while taking photos. I had someone cancel on me and I was super upset and just down, and this is where everything really started, my mentor told me to hold a workshop for girls that wanted to get into modeling. At this time, I’m just starting off and I held my first event a few weeks later with over 20 plus people and from there I was shooting every month and holding multiple events to help people get there modeling career started. Now I Have built a huge platform to where I have helped start multiple people’s modeling career and photographer career. I’m just blessed to be in the greatest position of my life and to help others achieve a goal that they probably had since they where little.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, I had multiple times where I’ve wanted to give up because I’m not seeing as many likes on a certain photo or video that I put out that I put a lot of work into, I had to realize that I can’t let social media control my brain I had to keep telling myself that I am an amazing photographer out of Michigan and not everyone gets an email to do a worldwide article. I had to deal with customers coming late to shoot and having to re-schedule shoots, Missing family dinners due to having an event or having to shoot late. I had to learn really quick that in order for me to make it and be successful in this industry, I had to sacrifice time with family and friends as hard as it was. A. lot of late-night editing, also restarting a whole edit that your client didn’t like but you have to remember that they are paying you to bring their vision to life. So, to answer the question the road has not been easy at all, but I am super grateful for the struggles and sacrifices that I have had to make to get to where I am now.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am photographer, Philanthropist, I do music Videos and sports photography, and videography. I am very well known for the my photography all around Detroit and also for my sports videography. I am most proud of being able to bring all my clients’ work to life. I am very serious about my work and also a perfectionist when it comes to taking photos and doing music videos. I want all my clients to get what they paid for and also to help their career whether it is to become a professional model or a global music artist.
