Check Out Ali Orvosh’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Orvosh.

Hi Ali, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The idea of a refillery started during covid. I was researching ways to do better at home when it comes to waste, and I ran across other refilleries online. What an amazing concept! The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to open one in Midland.

I started working on a business plan and decided to go for it. We opened in June of 2021 and to my surprise, I found multiple other refill shops and delivery services in Michigan. We were all opening around the same time giving me more resources to bounce ideas and questions off.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. I often describe it as a rollercoster. Some days are amazing with lots of customers and business runs smooth and other days I have ten fires to put out while wondering if I will pay the bills that month. The biggest struggle is to market to like-minded people and get them into the store to start refilling.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I graduated from Northwood University with majors in marketing and management. During my professional career, I worked mainly in accounting roles. I am most proud of graduating college and now opening FILL. I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I was willing to jump with both feet into an industry that is very new for Michigan and not know if it will succeed in the long run.

Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me by being a local maker of products I may be interested in carrying. I love working with other local small businesses on different events. Support from people is super important. If it’s sharing my social media, talking about the shop to friends, or shopping at FILL, it all supports me.
