Today we’d like to introduce you to Liam Markley.
Hi Liam, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Liam Markley and I grew up downriver. I started Mac’s Snow and Lawn Care last winter. My life long friend, Mike Powers, owns an auto shop called Guardian Car Care in Woodhaven, Michigan. Mike Called me last year and asked if I wanted to invest with him and buy 3 plow trucks and a salting truck from one of his customers. We decided to buy them and look for snow accounts. Growing up and living Downriver our entire lives really helped us with our accounts. We were able to use our connections and get enough snow accounts to stay busy and make a profit. After our first season of snow we decided to take our profits and invest in lawn care equipment. We started with friends and family and expanded from word of mouth and Facebook. We were able to stay busy all summer doing residential and commercial landscaping. In the fall we offered leaf cleanups and gutter cleaning. During the holidays we are setting up to begin hanging exterior Christmas lights for our current and new customers. We are coming to into our second season of snow, and we have expanded and upgraded our equipment. We are excited to see what the future has in store for Macs Snow and Lawn Care.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a learning process, but we have been extremely fortunate. I have been doing all our invoicing, and it is a new experience for me that has been a work in progress.

Our business name comes from my business partner and his wife’s son, Michael “Little Mac” Powers. Mike and I have been best friends since kindergarten and are now in our 30s. We offer snow removal, ice management and lawn care services including sodding, lawn cutting, edging, weed whipping, mulching, spring cleanups, fall cleanups and more. We also clean gutters and have done complete home clean outs (brought dump trailer and removed all furniture, trash, appliances from homes). Right now, we are starting a new service for Macs; professional Christmas light decorating.
