Inspiring Conversations with Tina English and Missy Caron of 3West Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina English and Missy Caron. 

Hi Tina and Missy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
In 2018, Missy and I made the decision to open our own salon. After working together at various salons around the community, we knew this was something we wanted to do. Our vision was to create a space that any stylist who works here, loves it. A space to create your best work and live your best life. Because Missy and I both work behind the chair, we knew how important this is to a stylist.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Less than a year after opening our salon, COVID hit. Being a new business, this was terrifying. When the beauty industry was shut down for 12 weeks, we weren’t sure what the future looked like for us. 

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a hair and lash salon in Portage, MI. We have a team of 10 hair stylists and 2 lash artists. 

We are an education-based salon with many years of experience between us all. We have strived to create the perfect team of professionals. 

Clients often comment on how comfortable and welcoming 3West is. 

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
Upon opening the salon, our biggest fear was… are we going to be able to fill this space with the stylists we need to succeed. 

The risk was worth it because we believed in our dream so much that we knew others would too.
