Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Johnson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems. My husband and I moved to Westland, Michigan after graduation in search of employment. After working in my field for 10 years, we decided that it would be better to be a stay-at-home mom with our two children. When my youngest was in middle school I had an opportunity to help out a friend who owned a t-shirt shop.
He sold that shop shortly after I started, and I worked for the new owner for 3 years. He also decided that he wanted to sell, it and offered it to me. My business partner and I bought the business in February of 2020, right before Michigan was shut down due to the Covid Pandemic. We managed through that first year, and have been growing the business ever since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We definitely struggled through the Covid pandemic. We found a niche in making custom masks for our local community.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a local custom apparel shop. We decorate anything from t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, sports uniforms, and varsity jackets to name just a few. We also cater to individuals, local businesses, school districts, and athletic organizations. We decorate with in-house embroidery, sublimation, heat transfer vinyl, and plastisol transfers.
We also offer award recognition through custom plaques, trophies, and medallions. I think what sets us apart from others, is our attention to our customer’s needs and our quick turnaround times. We also don’t have minimums when it comes to creating shirts for our customers. We will gladly make one t-shirt or thousands.
